[ 2012-01-02 ] Vhrsti will speak about Comics in Domino Broadcast for kids produced by Czech Radio 2 on Tuesday 3 January at 7 p. m. He will be the main guest of this magazine together with boys Adam and Petr who are not only comics readers but try to create it as well. Listeners could call their questions to the life broadcast and radio has prepared inquiry about the most favourite children comics for Tuesday.
[ 2011-12-02 ] Traditional Pilsen Calendar with subtitle Amusement Reading for Every Month presented 12 Vhrsti´s fairy tales in 2008. Pro Libris Community has prepared Pilsen Calendar for the year 2012 with stories by writers from Ason-Club and illustrated by Vhrsti. Pilsen Calendar 2012 was invited to its life in pilsen library November 30.
[ 2011-11-14 ] The Municipal Library of Pilsen was printing through the Pro Libris Publishing House fairytale by Vhrsti The Secret of Snowflakes. Vhrsti is the writer, illustrator and graphic designer in this case. Book that is not for sale will be distributed as the first reading for children during a ceremony prepared by the library every year. Fairytale about the highest prefab in the world, about one writer, two shrewish but good-hearted angels but especially about the first snowfall in the world was as well adapted for informal stage by Lenka Vackova, Tomas Jeres and Vhrsti and presented during authorial programme a few years ago.
[ 2011-11-07 ] Unique comic book We are Still in War - Life Stories of the 20th Century comes to the bookshops now. It was published by Argo Publishing House, Post Bellum Community and the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes. At the back bookcover you can read: Three scenarists. Thirteen top Czech and Slovak artists. Thirteen comics painted the real life stories from the second world war, holocaust, gulags and totalitarianism. 180 pages book costs 345 CZK. Vhrsti wrote and drew life story of Mr Leopold Färber - boy scout from Boskovice Town.
[ 2011-11-05 ] Vhrsti has become member of the presidium in the Czech Cartoonists´ Union on its Saturday membership meeting. This organisation is the only one profession organisation associate cartoonists in the Czech Republic. Its members are for example Jiri Sliva, Miroslav Bartak and Vladimir Rencin. Vhrsti is a member from 2005. Mr Bretislav Kovarik still remains head of the Union.
[ 2011-11-02 ] On Saturday 29 October there were published comics called Hurvinek´s Stories in MF Dnes newspaper. It´s an extract from the very strong life story of Mr Leopold Färber, a boy scout from Boskovice that was in anti-Nazi group from his 16. All story has 10 pages and is published in the book We are Still in War that will be possible to buy in the Czech bookshops in next few days.
[ 2011-10-27 ] Welcome party for the special comic book We are still in War - Life Stories of the 20th Century prepared by Argo Publishing House will take place in the Prague MeetFactory 29th October at 5 p.m. during the first comics Saturday of the KomiksFEST! Thirteen Czech and Slovak comic artists composed destiny of thirteen common people that had to be extra brave in the confrontation with totalitarian systems of the last century - fascistic or communistic. Vhrsti wrote and drew life story of Mr Leopold Färber under the title Hurvinek's stories.
[ 2011-10-24 ] No Comment - exhibition of the Czech and Slovak cartoonists - will take place in Prague from 26th October 2011 during the Month of the Czech and Slovak Cultural Cooperation. You can see cartoons for example by Miroslav Kemel, Shooty, Fedor Vico, Jozef Danglar and Vhrsti. The opening ceremony under the patronage of the Czech minister of culture Mr Jiri Besser will start on Wednesday 26th October 2011 at 6 p. m. in Tyn´s Literary Cafe. The best works from the 7th year of competition "Newspaper Award 2010" were first presented in Bratislava in spring 2010.
[ 2011-10-02 ] Exhibition named The Best 33 Czech Cartoonists and prepared by Laco Torma from the Czech Cartoonists´ Union took place at Kremnice Gags - the 31st European festival of humour and satire. Slovakian audience could see Vhrsti´s work again.
[ 2011-09-22 ] The best cartoons exhibition of the 9th international biennial of cartoons in Pisek is possible to see in Sladovna exhibition room. The professional jury has chosen 942 cartoons by 281 cartoonists (including Vhrsti) from 57 countries and 5 continents. The exhibition will take place in Pisek till 26th October. One year ago Vhrsti was one of the guests of the international event Cartoon Meeting Point.
[ 2011-09-17 ] Life stories of the second world war and totalitarianism eyewitnesses have published in Saturdays newspaper MF Dnes from today. Stories about people in the second world war, holocaust, gulags and totalitarianism were collected by documentarists from the citizens' association Post Bellum. Comics drawn by 1O Czech artists including Vhrsti will be published till November 19. Comic book Life Stories of the 20th Century will be published in November. Authors of the project believe that comics book could be interesting for generation from 15 to 35. Czech radio - Radio Cesko has broadcasted documentary series with the same name but their listeners are older.
[ 2011-08-09 ] Municipal Library of Pilsen celebrates 135 anniversary and that is why they gave themselves gift. They prepared exhibition Pilsen - City of Beautiful Books that takes place in the City Hall from 8 to 26th August 2011. Vhrsti, regular author of the magazine Pilsen Literary Life and long-time co-worker of the Municipal Library of Pilsen, is presented as illustrator and writer of the children books and comics author. If you would like you can see valued bibliophile works by Vhrsti´s father Stanislav Jurik (1948-1993) as well.
[ 2011-06-29 ] In the famous European magazine for independent comic Stripburger there is written in the editorial of the 55th issue: "We're happy to have with us again the Czech author Vhrsti and his thoughtful little man." Editors chose 2 comics - What I Haven't Done Today and I'm Firm from the Vhrsti´s autobiographical series. You can read comics especially by Slovenian and Brazilian authors. Vhrsti is only one Czech artist in this issue.
[ 2011-05-30 ] IBBY´s Czech department, Czech children illustrators´ club, Czech writers´ community and Czech translators´ community awarded anthology Generation Zero - Czech Comics from 2000 to 2010 by Golden Stripe. Book included Vhrsti´s comic Milkman was appreciate as the most important publisher feat. Father of the project idea is respected comic´s theorist and publisher Tomas Prokupek.
[ 2011-04-20 ] The best pieces of works from the 7th year of competition Newspaper Award 2010 for cartoonists and photographs are presented from 20th April till 31st May in Bratislava, Slovakia. Vhrsti was not awarded by this price but his illustrations publishing on the blog Aktualne.cz were choosen for the exhibition named No Comment where you can see as well the best awarded Czech and Slovak comics and cartoons by the winner of this year Miroslav Kemel, Shooty, Fedor Vico and Jozef Danglar Gertli. The exhibition will remove to Prague in June.
[ 2011-04-06 ] Czech Publishing House Pierot contacted Vhrsti to cooperate with them on one of their most favourite exercise books called Holiday School. Vhrsti illustrated exercise book Holiday School for the second class that is coming now. Publication full of tasks from the Czech language, maths and natural sciences is good helper for revision during summer holiday.
[ 2011-02-25 ] Among 53 West Bohemian writers' works in the anthology Double-lock, first presented in February 11 in Pilsen Mestanska beseda, there is one Vhrsti´s story as well. Vhrsti published excerpt from Michael Jackson on Prescription atypical story meant for adult readers. Vladimir Novotny and Vladimir Gardavsky are the book editors.

European comics anthology Aargh! #10 was presented on January 24 in Goethe Institut in Prague. For the first time there are two covers (Mawil, Slajch). Vhrsti drew his comics on the last page of cover. There's important what cover you will choose. [ 2010-11-26 ] Marketa Cekanova, Zdenek Zajicek and their preferred illustrator Vhrsti published Two Dozen Pilsner Fairy Tales and Legends in 2006, Half a Threescore Pilsen Region's Fairy Tales and Legends in 2007 and now they are coming with Half a Threescore till a Threescore Fairy Tales and Legends from Bohemia. New book with the white cover, after red and yellow, thirty new stories and thirty full-page illustrations will be welcome to life at 6:30 p. m. November 28, 2010 on occasion of lighting up Christmas tree at the Pilsen main Square of Republic. The second welcoming ceremony will take place at the same square on occasion of Christmas carol-singing December 15, 2010.
[ 2010-11-01 ] One of the famous European comics creator Emmanuel Guibert will come to Pilsen on Friday November 5. He will discuss with Vhrsti on the Czech Radio Pilsen broadcast before noon and he will meet with students of the Institute of Art and Design at 1 p. m. Guibert is the author of the valued trilogy Alan´s war that takes place partly in Pilsen. His book The Photographer was awarded by the "comics Oscar" Will Eisner Comics Industry Award in the United States this year.
[ 2010-10-26 ] Representative book showing the strongest nowadays generation of the Czech comics creators was published after the exhibition catalogue from the year 2007. Anthology named Generation Zero - Czech Comics from 2000 to 2010 is selection of the best short comics stories of the Czech Republic in the latest decade. Vhrsti is presenting by his comic Milkman from the year 2003.
[ 2010-10-12 ] Independent internet magazine Kultura21.cz will welcome jubilee 50th celebrity on Monday 18 October. Pilsen illustrator, writer and scenarist Vhrsti will answer questions in the moderate discussion on the chat starting at 8 p. m. Readers of this web portal know Vhrsti´s comic series Snow Foss published on Mondays.
[ 2010-09-20 ] Funny character of squirrel shows to children around just open interactive nature trail in the Pilsen forest park Homolka. Its author - as well as other illustrations and design of the boards - is Vhrsti. Children can learn interesting things about trees, plants, animals and history of Homolka water tank. Kids can find out how they are high on squirrel-meter or if their jump is longer than hare, red deer or kangaroo. They can play on wood xylophone or run slalom. Author of the project and texts is Martina Kovarikova from Pilsen Public Asset Management. Homolka was founded in 19th century and nowadays is the second largest forest park in Pilsen.
[ 2010-08-30 ] Posters and cards with snails´ houses for Charlie Chaplin, Bill Gates, Walt Disney or Julius Caesar drawen by the member of the Czech Cartoonists´ Union Vhrsti and participant of the third year of the biennial Cartoon Meeting Point in the Czech Town Pisek (September 3-5, 2010) have invited for this interesting event. Fourteen famous cartoonists from the eight European countries will draw for public on Saturday afternoon (2:30 p.m., Sladovna). [ 2010-05-24 ] Czech writer Katerina Richterova wrote a suspenseful story with a strong environmental vertones Let´s Rescue Joan! for her small ill daughter. Magic adventure about children fighting against corrupt politicians for fresh air, clean water and comeback of manikin Leukas who was born in the Land at the Beginning of the World is self-publishing. MP3 audiobook has not any competition thanks to writer´s selflessness. More than 3 hours devided into 29 chapters was spoken by actor Krystof Hadek - awarded Czech Lion Film Prize. A cheerful spirit of the project was made by illustrator Vhrsti.
[ 2010-04-13 ] 8th Children Book Fair Trade will take place in Liberec from April 15. Mrs Jana Semelkova, head of the XYZ Publishing House, and illustrator and writer Vhrsti will speak about popular books written by Vojtech Steklac at 10 p. m. Two years ago the publishing house has decided to publish complete story about Borik and his friends and Vhrsti has taken a scepter from the famous Czech illustrator Adolf Born. Three books have already published with new pictures and covers - Bohousek & His Mates, Ales & His Mates and new one Hellclass & Golden Credit Card. In the autumn 2010 you wil have the possibility to enjoy the fourth one Hellclass & Magnetic Mobile Phone that Vhrsti is illustrating nowadays.
[ 2010-04-01 ] The Czech Cartoonists´ Union celebrates 20 years of the active life. Concerning this jubilee, they have prepared exhibition showing the works of their 75 members. It is called "2cet" and takes place in the reconstructed house of Malostranska Beseda in Prague. The most of the authors (including Vhrsti) will attend the opening ceremony at 5 p. m. April 6. If you want, you can buy the catalogue with the authors´ profiles and works. You can also enjoy the jubilee stickers made by Jiri Kostyr, Vaclav Linek and Vhrsti. The Czech Cartoonists´ Union is the only one professional organisation in the Czech Republic connecting cartoonists and it has been the Federation of Cartoonists Organisations (FECO) member.

[ 2010-01-18 ] Foreign journalist are still interested in the scramble about the National Library of the Czech Republic. A few days ago news server France 24 published article Prague "blob" doomed? (in French Le "Blob" de Prague condamné?). His author Andres Bermudez Lievano asked some illustrators including Vhrsti for attendant pictures. You can also see this picture at Vhrsti´s blog where he argued for Kaplicky´s Library in wild public discussion in the autumn 2007.
[ 2010-01-13 ] Museum of Ghosts (Pilsen, Czech Republic) hosts Fairy-tale Saturdays. This year children can meet Vhrsti on this occasion. He will tell and draw in his Painted Fairy-tales performance on January 16, February 20 and March 13. The shows start at 15 p.m.
