In a few days, three of “my” books will have been published. After two books of legends and fairy tales, I was surprised by “Mirek & Co.” written by Vojtech Steklac in 1985. Of course, it is not full of pictures by Adolf Born, but my black and white drawings and full-page, colourful illustrations. It is the sixth book of the reborn edition of the Complete Borik Adventures, published by XYZ.
The first and the second welcoming of the book “A Handful of Fairy Tales” on Pilsen’s town square

When I finish a new book with Zdenek Zajicek and Marketa Cekanová, we always welcome it in front of the eyes of Pilsen’s full town square. And it will be the same in the case of our fourth “child” – “A Handful of Fairy Tales from Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia”. The first one will happen on Sunday 2nd December after 6 p.m. together with the lighting of the Christmas tree, and the second is planned together with the traditional choral singing of Christmas carols on Wednesday 12th December at 6 p.m. I will probably only come to the Sunday events because of time constraints.

We have a Handful already!

Hot off the presses on Friday, we drank to the health of the book. “A Handful of Fairy Tales from Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia” is the fourth book of fairy tales and legends by Marketa Cekanova and Zdenek Zajicek, following their books from 2006, 2007, and 2010. And because I am constantly improving as an illustrator, it´s more beautiful than the last one ;-)
Eleven Worlds: Contemporary Czech illustration for children

An exhibition of contemporary children’s illustrations will take place in the Museum of the capital city of Prague in Florenc, Prague, from 28th November 2012 to 24th February 2013. Curators said that they have put the accent on originality of the authors’ expressions and overlapping of other techniques and media when they made their choice. I am on the short-list of eleven authors, so you can see some illustrations from my own books “I’m Not Afraid of the Dark Any More” and “Holiday in Heaven”. If you would like to come, you would be very welcome at the opening of the exhibition 27th November at 5 p.m.
