Vhrsti’s Fairy Tales on the Czech Radio Plzen
[ 2007-12-26 ] Vhrsti’s fairy tales will be presented on the Czech Radio Plzen. Small Fairy Tale will be on the air first of all on December 31 at 11.50 a.m. Next four fairy tales will continue every day at the same time till Friday January 4. You can tune in on the frequency 106,7 MHz in the West Bohemia or everywhere in the world thanks to the internet.

Vhrsti on the Front-page of the Czech Newspaper Denik
[ 2007-12-22 ] Vhrsti´s Christmas Illustration has been published on the front-page of the Czech newspaper Denik in the Pilsen Region and in the Karlovy Vary Region today. Pilsen editors contacted cartoonist to prepare cheerful wishes for the readers of the last issue before Christmas.
Game Named Motanice by Vhrsti
[ 2007-12-18 ] Motanice (Tangle) No. 6 has come to Czech bookshops few days before Christmas. This logical toy with rose front-page includes optimistic pictures by Vhrsti. One picture is coupled to another picture with the string. Motanice (Tangle) has 30 playing cards, it means 300 illustrations by Vhrsti. Project Motanice won the award Right Toy in the year 2001.
Vhrsti among the Winners of Ekofor Competition 2007
[ 2007-12-10 ] Brontosaurus Movement awarded the winners of Ekofor Competition 2007 in Uhersky Brod (Czech Republic) at the end of November 2007. The jury also appreciated Vhrsti´s picture in cathegory „Zajic“ (Hare). His colleagues Radek Steska and Frantisek Kratochvil have been on the first and second place, Vhrsti on the third. All of them are members of the Czech Cartoonists‘ Union. The best pictures are included in the exhibition that was presented in 27 towns and cities in the Czech Republic in 2007 and they will prepare next for the year 2008.
Vhrsti in Klamovka
[ 2007-12-03 ] Vhrsti’s exposition takes place in Prague club Klamovka (Podbelohorska 3, Prague, Czech Republic) where comics club 4list works. It’s a collection of illustrations for books of fairy tales and legends by Marketa Cekanova and Zdenek Zajicek similar but not the same like in poetic cafe Obratnik (Tropic) in November. You can see it during club’s opening hours (from Monday to Friday, from 2 p. m. to 5 p. m.) and during clubs performances till January 10, 2008.
Mouse-ear Christmas Performance in Nyrany
[ 2007-12-03 ] On December 6, there will be Mouse-ear Christmas Performance in cultural house in Nyrany near Plzen (Pilsen, Czech Republic). Moderator Jiri Hlobil will speak about traditional crafts and Christmas folk customs from all over the world. You can also look forward to listening music by group Tri tilka (Three Singlets) and Vhrsti’s fairy tales presenting by actors Anne-Francoise Joseph and Tomas J. Res. If you want, you will have opportunity to buy fairy tales books, games and coloring books by Vhrsti (all with his signatures). This action will start at 6 p. m.
News Concerning to Half a Threescore Pilsen Region’s Fairy Tales and Legends
[ 2007-12-02 ] Half a Threescore Pilsen Region’s Fairy Tales and Legends was born and we add some new actions concerning to this baby. Authors already presented this book in the Gallery of Western Bohemia on November 30 and in Dobrany near Plzen (Pilsen, Czech Republic) on December 2. On Monday December 3, it will be also presented during the opening of Christmas tree exhibition in the Pilsen City Hall. On Tuesday December 4, it will take place on the Pilsen Republic Square during the festive lighting of Christmas tree and on the Nicolas Evening in Bela nad Radbuzou near Domazlice (Czech Republic) on December 6. Big christening ceremony with Czech writer Vladimir Paral that will take place on the Pilsen Republic Square on December 12 will be the top of these welcoming activities. Nowadays they are also working on translation of some fairy tales from the book from Czech language to Byelorussian and Ukrainian languages.
Half a Threescore Pilsen Region’s Fairy Tales and Legends Is Coming
[ 2007-11-26 ] Marketa Cekanova and Zdenek Zajicek are going to come with new book of thirty fairy tales after last sucessful book Two Dozen of Pilsner Fairy Tales and Legends. Nowadays there will be legends from all the Pilsen Region. You can learn a lot about greed of farmer from Nepomuk, defeat of Hussites in Stribro, Czech prince taking castle away from Germans and water sprite saving life to miners from Nyrany. These mystery and magic stories are illustrated by Vhrsti again.
Book’s welcoming will take place in the Gallery of Western Bohemia (No. 13 Prazska Street, Plzen, Theatre Hall, second floor) on November 30 at 4.30 p.m. You can also meet authors of this book on the Pilsen Republic Square on December 12 where attempt on the record in choric carol-singing will go on. (It have to be more than last record: 8 096 singers.) Czech writer Ondrej Neff was godfather last year and Vladimir Paral will swap with him this year.

Generation Zero in Hranice, Czech Republic
[ 2007-11-21] After the first September presentation in Brno (undermentioned) the unique exhibition Generation Zero – New Wave of Czech and Slovak Comics will take place in the hall Synagoga in Hranice, Czech Republic. Opening is planned on Thursday, November 22 from 17 p.m. You can visit the exhibition till January 13. In March 2008 you can enjoy it also in Prague.
„Let’s Finish Vhrsti’s Comics“ Competition Has the Winner
[ 2007-11-02] Let’s Finish Vhrsti’s Comics Competition has finished. The subject of the competition was to create last window of the short comics. Gabriela Zedekova from Vranov nad Dyji is the winner. Vhrsti was the head of the jury that chose her work as the most interesting from 260 Czech children and adults’pictures. Next 6 finalists can also look forward to some small gifts. If you want, you can see the best pictures from this competition on the Pilsen City Library website.
Endless Tram will be going in Brno
[ 2007-10-22 ] Exhibition of the comics strips Endless Tram by Vhrsti is preparing to Brno (Czech Republic). In the real tram type K2 registration number 1 033 with posters by Vhrsti there will be going Vhrsti’s exhibition on the various regular lines. Passengers will have opportunity to see the best from the Vhrsti’s comics serial Endless Tram to laugh instead of common leaflets. The opening ceremony with little ride is planned on November 7 at 5 p. m. on the Place of Mendl (Mendlovo namesti) in Brno. Press conference will be on the same place at 10 a. m.
Vhrsti on ComicsFEST!
[ 2007-10-21 ] The second year of ComicsFEST! called Comics Unlimited will take place in Prague (Czech Republic) from October 27 to November 3. Fairy tales illustrations by Vhrsti will be also presented during the festival on the exhibition in the poetic cafe Tropic (Obratnik) till the end of November. The opening and Prague christening of the book I’m Not Afraid of the Darkness Any More will take place on November 1 at 7 p. m. there. Actors and moderators Anne-Francoise Joseph and Tomas J. Res and mandolinist Petr Vrobel will help to make nice atmosphere by their performances like on the September christening in Pilsen. Antonin Koci from the Publishing House Mlada Fronta will speak about the book, Lucie Lomova – authoress of the famous comics Ann and Joseph (Anca a Pepik) and very popular comics Ann wants to jump out (Anna chce skocit) that has been very successful in France – will be godmother.
Vhrsti is participated in the ComicsFEST! project Comics to the Pack. He prepared one of the comics to the iconic Altoids packs of mints as well as other authors like Jiri Grus, Dan Cerny and Jaromir 99. These new Altoids’packs will be free distributed in the Prague streets during the festival! You can see comics originals on the exhibition named Altoids – One Mint, One Story that will take place in Archa Theatre.
Pilsen Calendar 2008 Is Coming
[ 2007-10-20 ] Pro Libris Fellowship is publishing Pilsen Calendar 2008 – collection of twelve fairy tales by Vhrsti with his nice illustrations and prolog by Czech famous poet Jiri Zacek. It’s a lovely thing especially for collectors thanks to printing of only 350 pieces. You have probably only one opportunity to buy this nice book on the christening of the book that will take place in the Polan’s Room in the Pilsen City Library (Knihovna mesta Plzne, B. Smetany 13) on October 31 at 7 p. m. Vaclav Malina, director of the Pilsen City Gallery will be the godfather and the moderator of this nice evening. You can look forward to music group Three Singlet (Tri tilka) and actors Anne-Francoise Joseph and Tomas J. Res – it will be in more intimate atmosphere than last performance; let’s forget about preparing cocktails and breadcrumbs strewing in the room – if you like it, wait to Prague next day to enjoy it (have a look on the news above).
Vhrsti Draws for Albi
[ 2007-10-10 ] Albi Czech Republic Assoc is one of the biggest Czech producers and sellers of congratulations’cards to envelopes, gifts, packing assortment and party games. Nowadays you can see two funny divorcing cards for men and women made by Vhrsti in their higly visible stands for congratulations’cards in Czech stores. Thanks to the fruitful partnership between famous company and Vhrsti three new cards will be also launched soon.
Pilsen Book Christening Extensive Photogallery
[ 2007-10-07 ] Pilsen christening of book I’m Not Afraid of the Darkness Any More took place in the Gallery of Western Bohemia on September 20. Anne-Francoise Joseph, Tomas J. Res, Petr Vrobel and yoyo group SpinFX made their appearances there. Gallery director Jana Potuzakova and Antonin Koci from the Publishing House spoke to the audience. In the lecture theatre there were more people than the room capacity was, but playful performance has been gaining nice acceptance. More about this day you can see in the photogallery.
Vhrsti in Kozuchow, Poland
[ 2007-09-29 ] Well-known international cartoon´s competition in Kozuchow reach a peak by the best piecies´exhibition. Vhrsti´s cartoon on the topic „Newspaper“ is also presenting together with the work of other 4 Czech artists. The winners, known from the day of jury session on June 19, are going to decorate on the opening ceremony today. They are everybody from Poland except of one Englishman. Vhrsti´s work was also successful a year ago. His joke on the topic „Protection – Against Heat or Cold“ was choosen to the calendar by the main sponsor of the festival.
Let´s Finish Comics with Pilsen City Library
[ 2007-09-23 ] Pilsen City Library has prepared competition named Let´s Finish Vhrsti´s Comics on occasion of the Week of Libraries. The subject of this competition is to finish short comics where the last window is empty. This place is prepared for your idea and your point and it doesn´t matter how talented you are or what technique you use. Everything you need, if you want to participate in this competition, you can download here. Please deliver your piecies to the Pilsen City Library (Knihovna města Plzne, B. Smetany 13, 305 94 Plzen, Czech Republic) till October 12. Your pictures black-and-white or coloured should be also marked with your contact. Competitons´ results will be presented on the library´s website till October 26. The winners will be rewarded by books and libraries´ finenesses.

Vhrsti´s First Authorial Book Was Born!
[ 2007-09-06 ] Vhrsti´s first authorial book I´m Not Afraid of the Darkness Any More is coming in production of the Czech Publishing House Mlada fronta. That´s crisp story about little Stephen and his teddy bear Bartholomew but about the subjects hiding in the darkness and about something that makes fearsome from the usual things above all. About grim reaper coming through the bedroom´s window every night, about the dangerous octopus, vampire from the picture on the wall and also about the darkness runing away from the wardrobe after opening – but nobody knows where.

Vhrsti on Polabsky Book Fair Trade
[ 3. 9. 2007 ] Polabsky Book Fair Trade will take place in fairground in Lysa nad Labem (Czech Republic) from September 6 to September 9. You can see there Vhrsti´s illustration exhibition from the book Two Dozen Pilsner Fairy Tales and Legends as well as publish houses´presentations. Marketa Cekanova and Vhrsti´s signing including telling fairy tales by Marketa and colouring pictures prepared by Vhrsti will also hold on Saturday from 10 to 12 a. m. in the reading room U Certa.
Zero Generation Exhibition
[ 2007-08-22 ] Zero Generation – New Wave of Czech and Slovak Comics will take place in Brno. 36 young artists that have come to comics around the year 2000 will present their works on this exhibition. You can also see Vhrstis´pieces among seasoned but also not so famous authors from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Catalogue with the complete cross-section of young Czech and Slovak comics will be also published. On August 29, at 6 p. m., there will be opening in galleries Kabinet and U Dobreho pastyre and you can visit these places till September 19. It´s possible that Zero Generation Exhibition will be moved to the other towns and cities – it´s in negotiation.
Vhrsti´s First Authorial Book Will Come Soon
[ 2007-08-05 ] It´s possible that you have already read in the newspapers that publishing house Mlada fronta is going to prepare Vhrsti´s book named I´m Not afraid of the Darkness Any More. It will be not only first Vhrsti´s authorial book (Vhrsti is creator of the text and illo) but also his first book publishing by prestigious Czech publishing house. For this moment it´s everything that we can tell you. But you can make waiting pleasant with three wallpapers for your computer´s screen with motifs from the preparing book.
Vhrsti on the Collective Exhibitions
[ 2007-07-16 ] The Present Czech Comics Exhibition took place in Uhersky Brod (Czech Republic) at the beginning of summer time. Vhrstis´ pieces were also presented there. Tommorow, there has been started exhibition of the best work from The International Cartoon Festival in the Belgian spa-town Knokke-Heist. The jury choose 190 cartoons from 933 registered works all over the world. There are also Vhrsti´s one on the exhibition that will end on September 30.
Vhrsti in the Children Magazine Slunicko
[ 2007-07-11 ] The most popular Czech children magazine Slunicko that has started almost 40 years ago presents their new illustrator Vhrsti in the July issue. The first picture that Vhrsti has prepared for Slunicko is double leaf accompaning Why the Frogs don´t wear Swimwears the rhyme by Jiri Havel.
Magic Coloring Book has just published
[ 2007-06-06 ] Pilsen publisher RLA Stallion has been coming with the Magic Coloring Book full of frights, ghosts, water sprites, braymen, knights without head and other fairy tales creatures. Vhrsti’s pictures was inspired by Zdenek Zajicek’s rhymes. If you want, you can by this coloring book on the Historical Weekend and other actions in Pilsen or you can buy it from publisher.
Vhrsti on Illustration Friday
[ 2007-05-21 ] Illustration Friday is a weekly creative outlet/participatory art exhibit for illustrators and artists of all skill levels. It was designed to challenge participants creatively. We believe that every person has a little creative bone in their body. Illustration Friday just gives a no-pressure, fun excuse to use it. No clients looking for a particular thing. No one judging the outcome of the work. It’s a chance to experiment and explore and play with visual art. Illustration Friday is a weekly illustration challenge. A topic is posted every Friday and then participants have all week to come up with their own interpretation. Topics are picked each week from a list of suggestion that have been emailed by participants. Vhrsti has taken part from this week when the topic is Signs.
Two Dozen of Pilsner Fairy Tales and Legends in Byelorussian
[ 2007-05-19 ] Marketa Cekanova, Zdenek Zajicek, Vhrsti and Vital Voranau would like to invite you to the Pilsen cafe Inkognito 23 May. Unusual party Pilsen-Byelorussian Dozen takes place there and will start at 8 p.m. Young Byelorussian writer and translator Vital Voranau will be presented his fairy tales in the Czech and two translation of Pilsen fairy tales from Czech to Byelorussian. He will narrate about his country. He also promises photos, film, Byelorussian meal and live music.

[ 2007-04-20 ] Vhrsti has opened his blog. He would like to present there his pictures, sketches, photos, collages and other funny things that he actually has on his table or in his mind. This blog should by more intimate and spontaneous alternative of the official website that also continues with the news and pieces of new projects.
Endless Tram is Coming Back
[ 2007-04-17 ] In 2003 Vhrsti created Endless Tram. He didn´t make its concept on the main hero unlike the common rules of the genre. Vice versa. Everything is possible to see by the trams´ windows. Passengers are getting on and off as in real life. Some of them are going only one tram stop (one strip), others are going later and pass the time by talking and kidding. In the autumn 2006 this comic was daily publishing under the name Endless Bus in all of 72 regional variants of newspaper Denik. In these days strips, under original name Endless Tram, are coming back on Komiksarium. You can also cast your mind back on the dialogues in trams and buses at the end of 2006.
Vhrsti created Ghostly Game
[ 2007-03-28 ] „If you win Ghostly Game, your wishes will come true.“ It´s a slogan of game full of ghosts and fairies made under name of Pilsener Dreamland. Edition of this game has supported by the City of Pilsen and the Authority of the Pilsen Region. [ 2007-02-20 ] On the server Komiks.cz you can actually read the critical appreciation of magazine Zkrat number six by managing editor Sakyk. He calls Vhrsti „Czech Comic Star“ and he speaks about mini-detective story Today Everything Is Crazy: „I insist that it´s good to read this story by Vhrsti and Hibi because of magical naive point“. „Vhrsti is the mark of good quality… his typical handdrawing, funny figures and stories are good entertainment,“ tell us earlier review on Fantasyplanet.cz.

Competition for the Best Comic Website has the Winner
[ 2007-01-13 ] Vhrsti´s website has choosen as the Best Comic Website in the category Own Creation by the jury of editors Komiks.cz. „Unlike other comic website this one found itself. It know distinctive style, humour and steady hand. Instead of roughness, it abounds with attraction and optimism. It doesn´t copy cliché but it stand the test of non-comic. Further, blue is good,“ said promulgator of the competition.
